I heard so much about the film "It Follows" before its limited release last week, unfortunately, I didn't hear enough, to stop me from seeing it. As It Follows opens across the nation today, I feel for those who will watch this film with an oblivious joy, having no idea how this film may take a toll on the spirit man that resides in us all. I have never seen something and wanted to unsee it so badly and it is because of that reason, that I say don't watch it.
It's not that It Follows is a bad film; on the contrary, if I was to say anything positive, I would say that this film is fundamentally sound and exceeds the standards of what a quality film should be on so many levels. It is cinematically beautiful; it seemed as if the director and cinematographer were attempting to outdo each scene, shot after shot seemed so much better than the latter. The acting was superb, a crew of newcomers that faired more than well, as for the director David Robert Michael, I felt like I was watching a Spielberg influenced mind that did not care to make the big bucks just a big statement.
Art was his priority, and art was certainly produced in my opinion. Now with all that said, you must remember that I do not gauge entertainment through the lens of just pure entertainment value. I am always and specifically looking for what God is saying, or where God is, even if the medium itself had no intention of anything biblical being found or created. I will find God, that is, if He is to be found... In this case I believe He wasn't, it reeks of the beautiful satanic angel of light, Lucifer Son of the morning, it's attractive, it sounds good, but it's as evil as hell...MORE COMING SOON

Below is the opening scene of It Follows, with a bit of commentary from the director, David Robert Michael on his DePalma influenced scene.
